The Project

How much can one lean on AI to make a game?

In this project, I am taking 120 hours to make the same game 3 times over.

The first set of 40 hours I will maximally using AI. It will create every asset from art to text to code to even sounds. I will intentionally leave as much of the work to it, only giving feedback from the perspective of someone who would want to make a game but lacks the required technical skills, iterating over feedback I obtain from playtesting it.

The second set of 40 hours will use no AI. This includes avoiding the AI built into search browsers, into IDEs and other such tools. All assets  will be made personally by me.

The third set of 40 hours is my attempt at finding a goldilocks area, where the code infrastructure is dictated by me, the art is made by me, but the AI writes the code, under strict supervision.

Thus far I've only used ChatGTP 5.6 Sol in High mode to make this, but this is still early in development and it may change, in which case I will update this description.

The Game

This is a game about digging down, getting ores and bringing them back to base, fighting hazards and enemies, dealing with the taxman and slowly turning the game into an incremental game hybrid over time.

It is inspired by Motherload, Dome Keeper, Coal LLC, Factorio, Terraria and incremental games in general.
